It can be difficult to learn how to play a song on the keyboard. You may need to practice for weeks before you see any progress. You can speed up your progress with the right strategies and practice. These are the four most important tips to help you get more done and stay motivated. Piano Street’s online sheet music library provides access to more than 30.000 pages of classical piano pieces music. It is available in high-quality pdf format and can be downloaded instantly or printed. Piano Street members have unlimited access to all piano scores and recordings.

1. A great song is the foundation of everything.

Great music is the best motivator for learning piano. Before you can start playing, you need to be familiar with the basics. You need to know how to locate the keys and hold your hand. Don’t waste more than a few days preparing! Start by choosing a song.

It is not as easy as it appears to choose the right song. It is crucial. It doesn’t have to be difficult or you will get bored. Try to find a simple transcription of the song or classical piece of music you love. All songs suitable for beginners are marked in a green corner on classical piano pieces. The First Steps section is for complete beginners. You’ll find songs that will help you learn how to play the piano step-by-step. You’ll be able to find the right song for you.

2. It can be sliced!

Start breaking down the song into small pieces of 4-10 seconds. Why? Your brain runs at maximum speed while you practice the piano. Your brain must memorize complex hand movements and there is a limit to how many it can store. Research shows that 4-10 seconds is the ideal length of time for your brain’s focus.

Instead of trying to memorize the whole song in one go, you can focus on just one section per day. With our loop function, you can practice small sections. Simply mark the section that you wish to practice, and hit Play to continue.

3. Make a detour

Before you play with both your hands, ensure you are able to play each hand independently. Because our brains are limited in their ability to learn new things, this is crucial. Our brains can become overwhelmed when we try to learn a new instrument simultaneously. You’re likely to have trouble keeping things in order!

It is important to focus on each part of the piece individually. This is true for both the left and right hand parts. Click the hand symbols on the classical piano pieces player to choose whether you want to practice your right hand, lefthand, or both hands. Once you feel confident, click the “Practice” button.

4. Daily practice is a must

It will be easier to achieve better results if you practice for 20 minutes per day, instead of twice a week. It doesn’t matter how long you practice but how often. Two 20-minute sessions per week is better than one 40-minute session. It’s easier to just sit down for 20 minutes per day at the piano. You can make piano practice something you look forward to every day. You’ll find it easier to practice, and you will be able to enjoy the pieces.

These tips should make practicing your piano a little easier. You might even be feeling the need to practice right now. Enjoy!
